Undergraduate student-consultants will develop focused recommendations and a tactical plan for your local social venture in order to help you take advantage of an opportunity or overcome a challenge that you're facing.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Phase 1 – Project Plan: Students will connect with organization representative(s) to devise the project scope, present their team charter, and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.

Phase 2 – Project Execution: Students will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.

Phase 2.5 - Presentation: Students will present their insights, recommendations and plan to their classmates; attendance by representatives from project clients is welcome, but optional.

Phase 3 - Outcome - Comprehensive Report: Students will submit a detailed report on the outcomes of the project. Report will cover: definition of the problem or opportunity, supporting research and analysis, recommendations, implementation/action plans, monitors/controls, and limitations/risk analysis, accompanied by appendices containing all their research findings and references.

Project Examples

Starting this October, student teams of undergraduate business students will work diligently over the course of the semester to produce a professional, clearly structured plan for a problem or opportunity your organization is facing. Your organization will receive a few final deliverables, which will include research and analysis, recommendations, implementation/action plans, a risk analysis, and more.

Areas of focus for this project can include, but are not limited to:

  • Creation of a complete business plan for product or service.
  • Development of a new market entry strategy.
  • Design of a marketing plan to reach a specific target audience.
  • Performing a detailed competitor and environmental analysis.
  • Assessing and improving HR practices.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of current IT systems.
