The final project deliverables will include:

  • A 2 to 3-page pamphlet that applies scientific research to a human factors issue that is important to your organization.
  • Materials for a 15-minute lesson, which teaches your crews about the human factors issue.

Project Examples

Requirements

Starting this September, a class of student-consultants working in teams of four will spend 450 collective hours researching and developing solutions to your human factors challenge.

Based on your needs and scientific research, the groups will develop an educational document and training that will help your organization improve well-being, safety, and/or efficiency through a human factors approach.

Project topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • Workload and/or automation management.
  • Communication, leadership, teamwork.
  • Decision making.
  • Situation awareness.
  • Managing distractions.
  • Authority gradients (experienced captains paired with inexperienced FOs).
