Overview
Learner goals and capabilities

Is your organization looking for a software or web application solution? Students in this capstone focus on gaining experience in some aspect of the software industries: software application development, mobile application development, systems analysis and support, web and game development, database design and management, and IT project management. Learners will gain practical experience with exposure to industry standards of planning, developing, and quality assurance testing.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

The learners will follow a structured project guideline as mentioned in the milestones section and will deliver the final project code with a final written report. Learners are also expected to present their work based on their final report.

Project Examples

Beginning in January, students in groups of 5 will spend 40 hours per student working with your company to research and develop a solution to a challenge/opportunity your organization is currently facing.

Project examples include but are not limited to:

  • Android/Desktop application development for Data Processing.
  • Web-page development for companies.
  • Games development.
  • Build android-app/web-app for User Experience Data Collection.
  • Work as a part of a software development team.
  • Design and implement object-oriented software programs.
  • Design and manage simple database applications.
Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.

Be available to attend, the project scope meeting on January 18.

Be available to attend final project presentations on April 19.

Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
