YourGuideToGreen.com is a company that I launched 18 years ago in the heyday before the 2009 market crash. We were set up to educate people on how to live a green and more sustainable lifestyle. At the height of our market we were doing $80,000 per month in sales. Then the market crash happened and we were not able to downsize fast enough. So we essentially shut the business down. But an interesting thing happened, one product kept selling. And I have continued to sell this product ever since. It is a health related product that helps people sleep more soundly. And until 2019 we were selling 20 to 40 a month.

Then, in the fall of 2019 googled ramped up their advertising and our placement of being one or two in a Google search, put us below all the other ads. And since then our sales have declined to one or two a month.

We would like to work with students to survey the marketplace, review the systems that we have in place, and evaluate how to re-launch and start reselling this product.

I am looking to:

  • Conduct background research on what has happened in the google sphere to impact our sales.
  • Discover ways to work around the barriers that have impacted our product sales.
  • Survey the web to see what organizations are already talking about environmental toxins, and see if there is a way to partner with them for them to sell our product and us to drop ship for them.
  • Got a new set of eyes on the problem to see what a solution might be.

Please visit YourGuideToGreen.com for more information about the product.

A little little bit about me. My name is Greg Peterson. I am at lifelong entrepreneur. I received my degree in 2004 and my Masters in Urban and environmental planning in 2006. During this time I worked as a graduate student teacher mentoring students. Then in 2011 till 2015, I became a mentor and adjunct professor in the school of sustainability at Arizona State University. One of my classes that I taught was a senior workshop, mentoring students through starting their own sustainability related business. I really really enjoyed that.

Deliverables
  • Weekly meetings (as appropriate) with me to survey the situation and brainstorm.
  • Evaluate the marketplace and our product line to see what we could do to reinvigorate.
  • Discover any marketing processes that we can do.
  • Survey the marketplace to see who we can partner with by offering affiliate and drop shipping services for the product. I.e. other websites that are already talking about environmental toxins.
  • Final deliverables should include: A final report & presentation.
Mentorship

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Our website, products and services
  • Our current understanding of our website’s accessibility features
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
