journalistic writing blog posts digital content podcasting social mediaThe main goal of this project is to create various blog posts and assist with podcasts for Keep6ix.org. This will involve several different steps for the student, including:
- Creating an editorial plan, including key milestones, deadlines, and interview schedules
- Identifying potential topics and selecting compelling and relevant topics for in-depth coverage of current events with keep6ix.
- Creating blog posts for keep6ix.org and assisting with our podcasts for YouTube and Instagram Live.
- Establishing connections within the community to ensure accurate and authentic storytelling
- Adapting long form content into content for social media posts (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- A word document outlining an editorial plan, including key milestones, deadlines, and interview schedules
- A word document of blog posts that can be used across Keep6ix.org website, Facebook and LinkedIn
- Include multi-media in blog posts such as photos, videos, podcasts and links.
- Creating digital content that can be used across all social media platforms.
- Interact with the team and the founder of Keep6ix
- Attend community events that Keep6ix is involved in
- Connect with the community and its resources
About the company
Keep6ix is a not-for-profit Toronto-based organization, serving the Greater Toronto Area, that was founded in 2017 to make a meaningful difference in the lives of at-risk youth from racialized communities who have been impacted by the criminal justice system.
Keep6ix offers various programs and services to help youth avoid going down a disempowering path toward incarceration. We also support and advocate for those who are currently incarcerated and provide post-release support so that they can overcome systematic barriers and stigma and begin to reintegrate positively into the community.
