Details

The main goal of this project is to create a social networking application for university students, where students can join digital communities for their classes or events on campus, so they can see who else is in that class or event and connect with them if they would like. Imagine attending an event where you can message other people attending the event who have similar interests to you or where you don't have to worry about going alone because you've already met someone digitally who also is looking for someone to attend the event with or where you can see active student groups on campus for you to join a community of like minded people! The intended outcome is to better create community on campuses and make it easier for people to make friends (because it can be tough to make new friends as an adult).

We have some working code, but we need people to improve on the code and also come up with a nice user design for us to create a nice experience for all users.

This project could include several different components for the students, depending on the specifics of the course, such as:

- Improving the existing code and making sure it is optimized for performance.

- Designing a user interface that is intuitive and easy to use.

- Developing a secure system for user authentication and data storage.

- Researching and implementing features that will improve the user experience.

- Testing the application for bugs and ensuring it is secure.

Deliverables

By the end of the project, students could demonstrate:

- Understanding of the existing code and how to improve it.

- Ability to design a user interface that is intuitive and easy to use.

- Knowledge of secure authentication systems and data storage.

- Ability to research and implement features that will improve the user experience.

- Ability to test the application for bugs and ensure it is secure.

Final deliverables could include:

- All source code.

- A written report explaining the design process and outcomes.
