quickbooks (accounting software)The goal of this project is to optimize the budget of Inform Your Community, a nonprofit organization, for best practices in the nonprofit space. This will involve refining the categories of the budget for alignment with Quickbooks categories and the 990 requirements. This will involve several different steps for the students, including:
- Analyzing the current budget and identifying areas for improvement.
- Researching best practices in the nonprofit space and Quickbooks categories.
- Comparing the current budget to the best practices and Quickbooks categories.
- Developing a plan to refine the budget categories for alignment with Quickbooks and 990 requirements.
- Implementing the plan.
By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:
- Understanding of the current budget and areas for improvement.
- Understanding of best practices in the nonprofit space and Quickbooks categories.
- Identification of areas for improvement in the budget categories.
- Development of a plan to refine the budget categories for alignment with Quickbooks and 990 requirements.
- Implementation of the plan and testing of the results.
Final deliverables should include:
- All recommendations with rationales.
- Template budget draft
- Ideally a version of our current budget within the new template
- A written report explaining the design process and outcomes.
Learners will work directly with the CEO and meet regularly. Typically classes meet once a month or more frequently lasting one hour.
