Looking to elevate your organization and take it to the next level? Bring CAPFO students to be your student-consultants, in a project experience. Students will work on a main project during the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.


This course aims to introduce the student to solving urban planning problems for tiny houses and high energy performance and sustainable housing planning. Students use various tools of architectural representation including, freehand drawing on digital tablet, digital drawing using software (REVIT) and 2d and 3d scanner, and 2d large format printer and 3d digital model. Other tools used include a 3d digitizer (FARO), infrared camera, an air infiltration verification system and drones to integrate the projects in a real context.

Some final project deliverables may include:

  1. A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations
  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, ideas, designs and recommendations

Project Examples

Students in groups of 3-5 will work with your business to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.

Project activities that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing buildings using a variety of architectural representation tools


Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.

Provide a dedicated contact who is available for weekly/bi-weekly drop-ins to address students’ questions as well as periodic messages over the duration of the project.

Provide an opportunity for learners to present their work and receive feedback.

Provide relevant information/data that is needed for the project.
