Are you experiencing a business challenge related to educational activities? Bring on internship students from ASU's Educational Studies program to assist in creating meaningful solutions for you and your clients. Students will work with you for two semesters as they develop and implement a Human Centered Design experience. Student projects could be:

  • facilitating and assisting with learning activities
  • leading outreach activities
  • coordinating educational programs, activities, or events
  • designing learning materials or activities
  • marketing 
  • fundraising
  • conducting research

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Depending on the partnership the outcomes and deliverables could be:


  • training, teaching classes, leading workshops
  • tutoring, mentoring, supporting individuals one-on-one
  • advocacy, community outreach
  • policy development, developing materials, planning, set up/tear down
  • developing flyers, brochures, training aids, 
  • creating web-based educational activities
  • client recruitment, web development, social media
  • cultivating donors, organizing fundraisers, creating fundraising strategies
  • using research to inform educational opportunities 
  • conducting research, needs assessments, compiling & analyzing data, and making recommendations

Project Examples

Students come from a variety of backgrounds and possess a diverse range of skills. Some of the projects that students have created have been to:


  • lead workshops at a senior center
  • teach mommy & me classes
  • train volunteers on food handling procedures
  • conduct a Human Resource training on a new policy
  • coach a recreation baseball team 
  • big brother/big sister to foster youth
  • assist with job skill readiness and writing resumes
  • create a public service announcement supporting suicide prevention
  • create a social media campaign raising awareness of educational programs offered by public libraries
  • plan and coordinate computer skills workshops for residents of an assisted living center
  • create procedure for parent pick up at a community center
  • create PowerPoint for training volunteers on safety procedures
  • create web pages on recycling practices 
  • design materials for a corporate training
  • design and disseminate flyers promoting early childhood wellness programs
  • twitter campaign to raise awareness of a new exhibit at the science museum
  • create a sustainable plan to fund disadvantaged youth to attend summer camp
  • write a grant to purchase instruments for a community theater program
  • conduct literature review to gather best practices in supporting immigrant families
  • administer focus groups to determine services needed by clients
  • write a report with recommendations on existing programs offering GED classes
  • participate in cross-organizational initiative to improve voter turnout
  • present to a school board to include financial literacy in afterschool programming. 
  • organize stakeholders around community cleanup efforts

Students ultimately work towards creating/designing and implementing a human-centred design project, which involves active communication with the employer, as well as various methods of analysis throughout the process such as surveys, assessments, etc. Are you willing to commit to provide the student with the necessary information, as asked?
