International students bring a unique perspective, having experienced the challenges of working in other countries, with a diverse range of skills. Students in this program/course will study the key concepts, tools, and principles of strategy formulation and competitive analysis, designed to capitalize on emerging opportunities. They are focused on information analyses, organizational processes, business knowledge and judgement that managers must possess to devise strategy, to position their firms to sustain and maximize competitive advantage in the face of uncertainty and competition. Business Information Systems

Students will work on system development cycles in an interactive data base environment. The case projects are set in a team environment with the supervising faculty member servicing as your consultant and evaluator. We are looking for students to get hands-on experience of working with information systems, especially using Unified Modelling Language (UML). Students are experienced at the following: Software development languages (Visual Studio.NET, Java); Computer hardware, networking and operating systems (Windows, Unix and Linux); Data gathering, modelling and database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server 2000); Retrieval techniques of databases and programming languages (SQL, PLSQL, ADO.NET, JDBC); and Target platforms, including Windows application development, networked software development, web application development (XHTML, JavaScript, ASP, Java).
Computer Systems Technology - IT Development Project - Phase I & II

Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students in this program/course study and employ practical and theoretical concepts obtained in first year systems analysis and design courses by building an IT system. They will work as part of a development team on an IT problem for an external industry client. Their project will include the production and demonstration of functioning components of the system each release within deadlines set out in their project management documentation
